Competency Card Sort (ccSort)

This application was written as an electronic version of a process used to assign required and desired competencies to specific workplace roles.
Each role is a unique competency combination that varies by type of competency required and level of competence.

There are 41 Key Competencies consisting of those that are Functional/Technical Expertise, Organization Knowledge, Industry Knowledge and Technology Savvy.
Those Key Competencies are divided into the 7 Categories listed below:

  • Conceptual Conceptual
  • Contextual Contextual
  • Interpersonal Interpersonal
  • Leadership Leadership
  • Management Management
  • Personal Personal

The goal of this application, as well as that of the manual card selection process, is to sort the competencies into 3 piles, attempting to have 10 competencies in each. The piles in this application are identified as "Must Have Competencies", "Nice to Have Competencies", and "Categories and Competencies". In the manual process, the third category is identified as "Not Important for the Role". In the electronic application, "Categories and Competencies" contains all 41 competencies, indicating which ones are in use.
